What We Need To Know

What We Need To Know

We understand that arranging a funeral can be a deeply emotional and difficult experience. Our team is here to offer guidance, care, and support at every stage. To ensure that the arrangements reflect your wishes and honour your loved one appropriately, we will ask for certain details during our discussions.

The following outlines the key areas we will cover:

Type of Service
  • Will the service be a burial or a cremation?
For a Burial
  • What is the preferred location — a churchyardcemetery, or natural burial ground?
For a Cremation
  • At the committal, would you prefer the curtains to close around the coffin, or for the coffin to remain on view until attendees have left the chapel?
  • What are your intentions regarding the cremated remains? There are several options available, which we will be pleased to discuss with you.
Service Details
  • Where would you like the service to be held?
  • Should the service be religiouscivil, or humanist in nature?
  • Would you like the service to be live streamed or recorded for family and friends who are unable to attend in person?
  • What are your preferences for music and/or hymns?
  • Would you like an Order of Service to be printed?
Funeral Procession
  • From where should the funeral cortege depart — the deceased’s home, a family address, our Chapels of Rest, or should we meet directly at the place of service or committal?
  • Do you require any limousines? Each limousine accommodates up to six passengers.
    • Limousines may follow the hearse from a private address, collect family members, or meet the hearse at our Chapel of Rest, en route, or at the service.
  • Would you like family members or close friends to help carry the coffin on the day of the service? If so, we will provide full guidance and support to ensure they are comfortable and prepared.
Additional Arrangements
  • Would you like to include flowersdonations, or both?
  • Should a death notice be placed in a local or national newspaper? (A complimentary notice will also be placed on our website.)
  • What type of coffin would you prefer? Click here to view our coffin selection.
  • Would you like your loved one to wear their own clothing, or would you prefer us to provide a robe set?
  • If your loved one is wearing jewellery, should it remain on or be removed and returned to you?

Our Commitment

We understand that every detail matters. Our team will take the time to discuss each of these considerations with care and compassion, ensuring that every decision is made thoughtfully and with complete confidence. You can trust that we will support you with dignity, respect, and understanding throughout the entire process.
