Visiting your loved one
At Smiths Funeral Directors, we understand that visiting a loved one in the Chapel of Rest is a deeply personal decision. For some, spending quiet time with the person who has died offers comfort and a chance to say a final goodbye. For others, this may not feel right — and that is perfectly natural. There is no right or wrong choice, only what feels best for you.
Our private Chapels of Rest, located at our funeral home in fletton, have been purpose-built to provide a peaceful and respectful environment for families. They are non-denominational, welcoming people of all faiths or none, and have been designed with accessibility in mind, ensuring that visitors with mobility needs can feel at ease.
If you do not wish to see your loved one in a coffin, we can also make arrangements for them to be placed in a bed instead, should that feel more comforting.
Visits to the Chapel of Rest are by appointment only. This allows us to prepare the space for you and ensure you have the privacy and support you need. In some circumstances, we may also advise you on whether visiting is advisable, as this can vary depending on individual circumstances. Our priority is always your wellbeing, and we will guide you with care and sensitivity.
