Financial Assistance and Support
We are happy to assist with the completion of the necessary paperwork should you wish to apply for financial help through the Department for Work & Pensions (DWP). Assistance from the DWP is subject to specific eligibility criteria and, while it may provide some relief, the payment offered usually represents only a partial contribution towards the overall funeral costs and rarely covers them in full.
In most cases, families will need to meet the remaining balance themselves. If this applies to you, we can offer advice on the different forms of financial support that may be available. This may include government grants or loans, introductions to reputable loan providers, or exploring alternative sources of funding. For example, if the person who has died served in the Armed Forces, held a War Pension, or was a member of a Trade Union, Society, or Association with charitable links, it may be possible to access additional assistance through these channels. We will be pleased to review the options with you in detail.
If you are concerned about funeral expenses before probate has been granted, we recommend discussing this with the solicitor or executors of the estate, as funeral costs can often be released from the estate before probate is finalised. Should you require, we will be glad to recommend a trusted solicitor to provide advice and assistance.
